** UPDATE : We're pressing pause on this for the moment. Your support has been overwhelming, and we will be fulfilling every order placed, but we were beginning to to schedule too far out...so far out, in fact, that our cafe's will likely be open again -- making the organization/fulfillment of these donations a little trickier! THANK YOU! **
Wanting to do something...wanting to do anything, HUCK called up our best buds at Port Side to brainstorm. Here's what we came up with:
Help us send front-line workers tasty & vital coffee pick-me-ups, along with delicious & sustaining pastries!
There's a lot of us & you who are at home...staying safe & distanced & finding clever ways to keep spirits up! There's also a lot of people for whom that isn't the case -- they are working as hard as ever, on the front lines, to see us through this Covid 19 pandemic by keeping us healthy, driving our city buses, filling our grocery stores, farming the food we still eat, etc.
We can't imagine what that must feel like, and what kind of stress it brings...
What we can do is brew tasty coffee, bake yummy pastries and bring them in large quantities to brighten the day/night of front-line workers in Denver, CO!
We will deliver the coffee in 96oz Joe-To-Go's (disposable carafes) with cups, lids, and sugar. We will deliver the pastries (cookies, banana breads, scones, muffins) in lidded boxes. Donate if you're able & what you can -- if you purchase an individual coffee/pastry, the $4.50 will go towards filling a carafe/box, or $35.00 will purchase an entire carafe/box at once.
Full transparency, while we're doing this primarily to feel helpful & useful...it is also a way for HUCK to generate some revenue & keep our business open during this unprecedented economic crisis!
Fine Print / Details
* We have never done this before, so we're going to just figure it out as best we can -- as orders come in. We will keep this page updated as things get figured out!
* Our current plan is to do delivery Tuesday & Thursday (& maybe Saturday), depending on volume.
* We will likely wait until we have 3 carafe's worth of coffee AND 3 pastry boxes ordered before making a delivery. We want to make it worth everyone's while!
* We will fairly rotate between bringing donations to health care professionals (hospitals), grocery store staff break rooms, RTD facilities, etc. There are strict visitation rules in place at a lot of these places, so we will call ahead and plan...not just show up!
* If you have a specific place you'd like to send CARAFES of coffee or BOXES of pastries (we won't be able to do this for individual items), please email us directly with your order number, and we will try our BEST!
***also, we'd like to shout out to our coffee buds at Andytown Coffee in San Francisco, Augie's Coffee in Redlands, and others for leading the way on this! ***
Let’s get down to business.
Sometimes you need your coffee to be simple and delicious, with no mention of nuanced complexities. Sucker Punch is what you are after — it’s dependable and it tastes like coffee, dammit.
Chocolate and caramel flavors make Sucker Punch perfect for your morning latte or drip coffee with a little cream.View full product details
Blue Orchid is Huckleberry’s house espresso blend. We serve this coffee every day in our cafes, and it is designed to be approachable, both as espresso and as a brewed coffee, with and without milk. If you’ve ever had a great latte experience at one of Huckleberry’s cafes, Blue Orchid was the base.
While the Blue Orchid blend does change frequently, we try to maintain a sweet, full-bodied, chocolate and caramel flavor profile by using Central and South American coffees specifically chosen for those qualities. This is great tasting comfort coffee, and is a well-rounded crowd pleaser, especially if some of that crowd likes cream in their cup, or is still making the transition from darker roast profiles into specialty coffee. We love intense floral aromatics, but some mornings we just want the chocolate, toffee, and a bit of milk in our mug, and for those days, Blue Orchid is our go-to.
The current version of Blue Orchid is a blend of Brazil Fazenda Sao Benedito Natural and a washed coffee from smallholder farmers in the La Coipa area of Peru's San Ignacio province.

Don't call it a dark roast! Okay, okay...we won't.
How about we call it Civitas and say it's "a slightly darker roast with slightly longer development"? Yea, that sounds cool!
In either case, we're excited about this one! Huck has long believed that we should (or could) be just as proud of our darker & more developed coffees, as we are of our lighter offerings.
It just took us a while to find a roast profile that still checked all the boxes for us!
Our Civitas blend is meant for the fan of a full bodied coffee with notes of dark sugars, chocolate, toffee, and a great nuttiness -- not unlike our Blue Orchid Blend, but a hair darker than that.

While Huck loves to work with the same producers year after year, it’s always fun to bring in new coffees that have found their way into our hearts. Enter Hacienda Casablanca, nestled in the Santander region of Colombia. When our head roaster, Shelby, won the 2019 US Coffee Roasters Championship, part of the prize was a trip to Colombia with Ally Coffee. Casablanca was one of the many impressive farms from that trip.
Casablanca is aptly named for the lavish, white Spanish villa built on the farm during colonial times. Liliana Caballero grew up in the area, and always had an affinity for the old white house and the land it sat on, so when she purchased the villa and a portion of the old hacienda in the early 2000s, she kept named her land after the beautiful white house..
When Liliana first purchased the 20 hectare farm, it was mostly planted with the rust-resistant Tabi variety. This failed to live up to Liliana’s high quality standards, and with the aim of improving the coffee’s cup quality, Liliana has consistently worked to renovate the farm, replacing Tabi with Colombia, Castillo, Bourbon and Gesha trees--not a cheap investment.
More than 10 years have passed since Liliana purchased Hacienda Casablanca, and her efforts have not gone unnoticed. Beyond the farm’s well-known beauty, Casablanca earned some well-deserved fame by competing in the 2016 National Yara Championship (a coffee quality competition) and taking first place!
During the Champs Trip, Shelby tasted coffees from several farms, but kept comparing the others to the sweet and fruity coffees from Casablanca. This particular coffee is a blend of Castillo and Gesha varieties, and with notes of brown sugar, raspberry, lime, and macadamia nut, it doesn’t disappoint.
